Fabric expansion joints
Instead of lens expansion joints we use fabric expansion joints for gas, dust and air pipes with low pressure (up to 1,5 atmospheres) and large operating displacements. Due to their low fabric rigidity fabric expansion joints are able to detect and absorb the slightest pipeline movement.
Fabric expansion joints by “Kompenz” - are constructions specially designed according to the exact technical requirements of the customer. They consist of chemical and heat-resistant materials integrated into one composite fabric insert, and also connection and protection fittings.
Fabric expansion joints are used in Russian industry more and more often. “Kompenz” designs expansion joints for new developments as well as for expired metal expansion joints. In both cases the highest requirements are imposed upon expansion joints reliability and time operational characteristics.Fabric expansion joints are used in high temperature and chemical aggressive environments. That is why the materials for production of fabric expansion joints should be of highest quality.
Also we normally use products of CJSC "Novgorod glass wool plant" for production of fabric expansion joints, i.e. technical-use glass fabric, basaltic and glass-fiber mats. Tests of materials with different heat insulating quality were held in Polytechnic Institute of Novgorod State University n.a. Yaroslav the Wise on the basis of departments of material science and building structures. These studies allowed us to specify optimal constructions for fabric expansion joints, to achieve very high strength characteristics of fabric expansion joints as well as values of gas tightness, heat and chemical resistance.
We produce fabric extension joints for pipelines with gas type environments and low pressure while large operating displacements. This type of expansion joints is characterised by low rigidity and small weight, and as consequence it has small thrust forces and it is capable of providing internal stress drop in pipeline materials caused by temperature changes as well as displacements and vibration of processing equipment. This stress drop will lead to less emergency situations.

Advantages of fabric expansion joints by “Kompenz”:
- Large displacements - fabric expansion joints are able to compensate significant displacements in all directions compared to other types of expansion joints.
- Operating flexibility – they are able to move in several directions at once absorbing significant displacements caused by uneven heating of pipeline or displacements of processing equipment.
