Bellows expansion joints
The main element of bellows expansion joints by “Kompenz” is a bellows that allows perceiving different displacements in axial, lateral and angular directions, reducing the vibration level and compensating misalignment.
A bellows is a thin-walled corrugated casing which is able to make significant displacements under the pressure of inner and outer forces.
Multilayer bellows expansion joints are widely used. Due to high quality stainless steels used for production of expansion joints ”Kompenz“ they are capable of working in most severe conditions with operating environment temperatures from -240°С to 1000°С and of perceiving operating pressures from vacuum up to 100 atmospheres depending on the construction and operating conditions.
One of the main advantages of bellows expansion joints application is their high operating efficiency, minor dimensions, ease of installation, and the most important is that THEY DO NOT NEED ANY ADDITIONAL ATTENTION within the operation!
Specially selected materials and form of a bellows allows achieving high values of cyclic resistibility, stainless property, and increase temperature application range and operating pressure.
Types of bellows expansion joints fixation
- for welding (RR) - is used for rigid fixation of the expansion joint to the pipeline of round or other cross section. It is fixed by welding of expansion joint end pieces to the pipeline ends that are of similar cross section and wall thickness. This type of fixation is the most popular and it provides hermetic joint of expansion joints.- flange (FF, VV) - пis used for rigid fixation of the expansion joint to the pipeline counter flange. This type of fixation provides detachable joint of pipeline elements and their quick replacement, but it requires interflange packing control.
- threading (IG, AG) - is used for rigid fixation of the expansion joint to the pipeline through transition sleeve joints and threading seals. Such method of fixation allows joining heterogeneous and impossible for welding or flange connections details of the expansion joint and pipeline. It is used for small pressures and diameters.
